The word Quetzalcoatl is derived from Quetzal and Coatl - literally Quetzal Serpent. A Quetzal is a brightly plumed tropical bird with brilliant bronze, green and red plumage. Imagine a cross between a parrot and a Las Vegas show girl.

In the spirit of encouraging our native cultural art forms, music, dance, song and poetry as did Quetzalcoatl, we cordially invite you to celebrate Quetzalcoatl with Danza Azteca on May 14.

Sunrise ceremony will be at 6:30 am at the statue of Quetzalcoatl in the Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.

Danza will be from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Immediately following the dance ceremony and closing palabra we will once again host our friendly dance and drum competition.
