Free Form Dance Fundamentals: Springing into Safety on the Dance Floor

Saturday, April 2, 2016 @ 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Subud House
330 Melville
Palo Alto, CA

Sometimes when we learn the rules of the game, the techniques of the trades, etc. first - it gives us more permission to be in our bodies and play a little bit more - well...wildly.

Whether you are just learning about Free Form Dance as a form of movement (aka exercise), have been dancing for a bit in this manner or are an old pro - there is room for you to deepen your Practice to the next level.

Springing into Safety:

Our chakras open when we dance.  This allows us to touch our desires, longings, pains - even our orgasmic energy (aka Kundalini energy).  All the while, this Opening is like a magnet in the game of Polar Opposites attracting.

As you open, you might feel deeply in Love.

Deeply in Love with love, with the music, the bass - with that hottie over there, with your self, or with all of your fellow dancers in an instant - no matter your orientation.

Or maybe you feel that spark of something deeper with the one that seeks to get closer, and are convinced that he/she is the ONE.  The dance becomes more magical than ever - and you are swept away in bliss.

What do we make of these very real moments that happen on the dance floor - as we seek to move off the dance floor?

How do we open safely, around others, and not get misled nor mislead our brothers and sisters that we are attracted to during this process?

What pace is safe to open up at?

How do we keep the integrity of the community as the Shadows of the games men and women play emerge into the light?

How do we do this in love and without judgment nor condemnation - but with space for individual journeys in a collective whole?

What other questions are important to ask as we dance to heal and heal to dance among the Others?

Come explore these questions together in community as we seek to establish our own set of personal and communal guidelines with which to Move with.

Cost: $20-$30 (sliding scale)

Asking For What You Want in the Bedroom and Beyond

Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT)

Terra's Temple
3051 Adeline Street
Berkeley, CA 94703

Everyone says the way to mind blowing sex is to communicate. But how do you do that when you don’t even know what the options are, how to talk about it or how it will be received?

The challenge of asking for what you want starts within: knowing what you want, feeling like it’s okay or safe to ask for it, knowing literally the words to use for the things you want, and having a good way to get it across to your partner without hurting feelings or missing the point.

Most of us never learned how to tell what we really want in bed, much less how to talk about it openly and honestly. Even if you’ve been in a sex-positive environment for a while, taking the risk in that bare moment of vulnerability can, at best, be super awkward, and at worst, still seem impossible.

In this practical, immediately-useful workshop, you’ll learn basic and advanced skills for identifying what really turns you on and asking for it, so that you’re WAY more likely to get it. You’ll discover:
* What’s stopping you from asking for what you want — and your own custom recipe for what to do about it
* How to create a space with your partner where you both can literally ask for anything you want — without stressing your relationship
* How to communicate exactly how you want to be touched, turned-on and titillated — and what to do when your partner doesn’t get it right at first
* Quick-n-dirty ways to tell right away if you should keep going when you’re feeling unsure about something (without having to sidetrack into tons of processing)
* The secret to solving those annoying “I don’t know… what do YOU want to do?” desire traps (This one opens up a whole new world of play and possibility that will rock your world!)
* Tons of ways to share what excites you — and find out what lights up your partner — with and without using lots of words

In addition, you’ll get plenty of practice with new ways of asking and learn a handful of easy games to guide you in the bedroom (don’t worry, these are nothing like Cosmo or Playboy.) Last but not least, you’ll leave knowing how to create your own custom menu of sexy activities of what gets you hot and bothered.

Note: This is a clothing-on, non-sexual, communication workshop. Rated R for language, rated PG for activities.

Cost: $150/person; $225/couple

Saturday, April 16, 2016 @ 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

CA Institute of Integral Studies - CIIS
1453 Mission Street,
San Francisco, CA

Relationships do not come with an operating manual… It’s no surprise then that it’s not so easy to maintain “the spark” after years together. But what if you can have more connection, intimacy and joy together, even in the midst of a busy life?

This daylong seminar is an opportunity to fall more in love with your partner. Learn how to be attuned to their body language, become more fluent in the language of touch (clothes on), create a heart to heart connection, be more spontaneous with each other, and much more. Creating chemistry with your beloved doesn’t have to be a mystery, it simply takes certain skills and—even more important—a certain way of being with each other. This practical workshop is full of fun, experiential exercises that will teach you these learnable skills. It also respects privacy and boundaries, so you will not be asked to share anything you don’t want to. Come and enjoy this workshop with your partner!

Gal Szekely, MFT is a marriage counselor and relationship expert. Together with his wife, he founded The Couples Center – an organization dedicated to helping couples create A Love that Lasts, through counseling, evening, and weekend events. Gal is an adjunct faculty at California Institute of Integral Studies, and a teacher in the Hakomi mindfulness based therapy approach. His work and teaching are based on mindfulness and a deep understanding of the body-mind connection.

Sex as Meditation: Befriending Our Bodies

Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (PDT)

2269 Market Street,
San Francisco, CA 94114

Social norms, cultural and religious trends and consumer marketing have, in many cases, caused many of us to see our bodies as something with which we are constantly at odds. Many of us treat our bodies like they are wild beasts that we must tame to our will, feeling afraid, frustrated and/or betrayed in some way; missing that our bodies are the very vessels that inform us, in the most honest way possible, about the world around us and hold information about our truest needs and desires.

We invite you to join us for this 4 hour Sex as Meditation workshop where we will envision our bodies as our allies, creating a stronger relationship with ourselves, integrating mind, emotions, body and soul. We will bring mindful awareness to our current beliefs about our bodies and examine how they impact our self expression, our relationships and our sexuality.  This process will open a more loving and compassionate journey with our bodies that will allow us to be more in touch with our hearts' desires.
This workshop does not include any nudity or explicit sexuality. All genders and sexual orientations welcome.

Workshop duration: 4 hours

Cost: $135

Sound Immersion Experience - Gongs and Singing Bowls by Danny Goldberg

Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM (PDT)

Shaolin Wellness Center
860 Stewart Drive,
Sunnyvale, CA 94085

The sounds and vibrations of singing bowls, gongs and chimes guide us into a deep meditation. The healing vibrations pass through our bodies, opening blockages and allowing our minds to quiet. A wide range of ancient world traditions from Confucianism to the Pythagoreans” claimed that sound could not only “tune the soul” but affect our cosmological & social worlds as well. The physiological impact of sound on the body, emotions & cognition is apparent. Through the vibrations of these instruments we experience an inner calm and deep relaxation that enables us to journey within and center.

Good idea to bring yoga mat, blanket, eye mask, pillow, water...., an Open Heart for Transformation and Love
