Compassion Meditation: Free 1-day Retreat

Friday, November 8, 2019 at 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

Mindstream - Luminous Meditation
2098 Walsh Avenue
Suite C1
Santa Clara, CA

Khenpo Paljor is going to teach compassion meditation, the foundation of which is the Four Immeasurable: Love, Compassion, Joy (Rejoice), Equinimity.

Cultivating compassion can open our hearts to the world around us and decrease the self-fixation that lies at the root of suffering. Our tendency to fixate on our own well-being creates anxiety and suffering. Positive mental states like love and compassion erode the causes of dissatisfaction.

Khenpo Paljor speaks English.

Khenpo Paljor Gyatso was born in Amdo, Tibet. He began monastic life at nine and entered Larung Gar Five Sciences Buddhist Institute, the largest Buddhist Institute in the world, at sixteen. He studied there for 12 years with many great masters, especially his root Guru Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok and his successor Khenchen Tsultrim Lodro. He received many empowerments and oral transmissions of the various schools, especially of the profound Dzogchen transmission. He distinguished himself as an excellent scholar among the 9000 students at Larung Gar, at the young age of 25 received degree of Khenpo (equivalent of Ph.D in Buddhism).

Since 2004 Khenpo has served as a lecturer and collaborator with Dr. Robert Clark, the Coordinator of the Tibetan Language Program at Stanford University. He also taught meditation, mindfulness, and stress reduction at Psychiatric Alternatives and Wellness Center in SF. Since 2017 he has been invited to teach Buddhism and meditation at the Pure Land Of Iowa Buddhist and Meditation Center.
