Michael Smolens New American Songbook Project

Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 7 PM – 11 PM

Open Embrace
20368 Clay street,
Cupertino, California

This group features daring arrangements and re-constructions of jazz, pop, and folks standards made famous by vocalists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Graham Nash, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, and Cat Stevens. They have two great female vocalists who will each sing particular songs solo with the band, as well as singing some songs together in brand new arrangements inspired by the iconic Betty Carter/ Carmen McRae live 1987 recording.  The group has performed at public concerts, house concerts, and lecture/demonstrations for over a decade and has appeared at Cafe Pink House, Piedmont Piano and Hillside Club Concert Series and sponsored by Jazz In The Neighborhood.
