Yoga Center Santa Cruz
428 Front St Ste C,
Santa Cruz, California

In this workshop you will:

… Awaken and Warm up Every Joint in the Body
… Be Held in a Safe Space to Release Blockages and Trauma Somatically
… Access your Body’s Intuitive Wisdom and Knowledge
… Dance with Real Live Serpents
… Align the Chakras through Sacred Serpent Wisdom
… Activate your Power

Shamanic Fusion Dance ® is a form of authentic movement that was developed by Anandha Ray over three decades of performance, choreography, and directing. These techniques fuse modern dance practices with theories of dance/movement therapy to create a healing and expressive art form. Shamanic Fusion Dance ® is influenced by indigenous cultural rituals and a lifetime of research into the therapeutic and transformational aspects of dance and performance.

Intuitive Technique is more than a dance class, it is a journey to discover the fullness and joy of movement, taking risks, and the art of performance. This guided practice releases physical and mental blocks, which allows for deep emotional healing and unleashes your full creative potential. Whether you're an advanced professional dancer or a beginner, this technique will unlock the next level of embodiment, both physically and in the realm of movement expression. There are no steps, no choreography, and no mistakes. This experience will surprise you by revealing more dance mastery than you believe you have. Discover your authentic expression and experience profound sacred awakening through Intuitive Technique guided movement journeys.

The Serpent has long been a symbol of the Goddess, feminine power and awakened kundalini energy whose expression rebalances our collective psyche. Serpent Sanctum believes that interaction with the serpent touches people on an emotional level, triggering the subconscious to review its patterns and bringing people into immediate presence. We weave together sacred serpent medicine with dance, ritual, and music to create a modern incarnation of an ancient healing art form.

Rose Amaru is founder of the Serpent Sanctum, a nonprofit dedicated to facilitating empowerment, healing and the arts through Sacred Serpent Wisdom. She is an Ordained Priestess, currently studying with the Temple of Isis under the tutelage of Anandha Ray. She is a Theta practitioner, Certified Tantra Educator, workshop presenter and retreat facilitator. Rose loves the movement arts and is certified in Tribal Temple Fusion and Shamanic Fusion Dance. She has offered prayer and performance with artists such as Shaman’s Dream, Ixchel Prisma, Drumspyder, Desert Dwellers, SaQi, Random Rab, Dirtwire, David Starfire, ALIA, Feral Fauna, Thriftworks, Dimond Saints, Kaminanda, Maesyn, DRMWVR, Amadora, Liquid Love Drops, and more.

Grief Medicine: A Multidimensional Approach to Grief Work

Saturday, November 02, 2019 at 1:00pm-4:00pm

The Center SF
548 Fillmore Street
San Francisco, CA

With yoga, sound bathing, and creative expression, we can allow our grief to move through us, bring us back to our aliveness and compassion -- the very medicine we need, personally and planetary.

Whether your grief is surviving the loss of a loved one, a relationship breakup, or witnessing the sorrow and injustice of social and planetary calamities, this event was created just for you. This ritual will support you in acknowledging, accepting, and attending to whatever has brought your heart to the place of being broken. We live in a world context where grief has no place to go, which leads us to contraction in our bodies and spirits and can bring about psychological, spiritual, and physical imbalances.

In a safe space held by expert facilitators, we are given the opportunity to fully allow our grief, in all its forms, to move through us and awaken us to our own aliveness and compassion -- the very medicine we need, personally and planetary. As we shift out of the current cultural paradigm of repression and denial of grief, towards the new vision of gathering together to grieve our losses fully, we heal our hearts individually and collectively.

Together we will open the circle with a group sharing ritual and dip into a sound bath with gentle and restorative yoga, breath work, and movement. We will then break out into individual creative expression processes followed by sharing and witnessing others. Sound, movement, and expressive arts processes help us release grief, heal, and create beauty and meaning together. As we gather in this beautiful community ritual, we find a sense of belonging in our shared grief, helping us to metabolize our losses and transmute them into a gift for our own hearts and for the broken heart of the world.

Please bring a journal, something to write with, and an object of significance for the grief altar. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

Ancestral Lineage Healing Daylong Workshop

Saturday, November 02, 2019 at 10:00am-5:00pm

Rudramandir
830 Bancroft Way
Berkeley, California

Every lineage has wise and loving ancestors. Connect with yours as a source of blessing, support and healing. Learn to engage your ancestors in heart-centered group ritual in this daylong workshop.
This daylong workshop in ancestral lineage healing encourages relating safely and directly with blood and family lineage ancestors, cultivates connection with helpful guides, and creates boundaries and support for troubled dead in need of assistance. Together we’ll engage lineage ancestors in heart-centered ritual space through learning, experiential practice and group dialogue.

All are welcome, including folks new to ancestor work, those without much information about their blood lineages, and those with a challenging experience of family. There are no prerequisites for this workshop, though prior experience with inner work and spiritual practice is helpful.

We provide a securely held ritual container that gives participants tools and practices for addressing grief, inter-generational trauma and allows for deep-level family and cultural healing. We maintain a high instructor to participant ratio to ensure folks receive lots of individual support.

Both workshop leaders are experienced ritualists, trained in Ancestral Lineage Healing by Daniel Foor of Ancestral Medicine. Gita Thandika is yoga teacher, Ayurvedic practitioner and elder/sundancer in the Lakota tradition. Raised in apartheid South Africa to a Zulu mother and Tamil father, Gita brings a strong sense of social justice and respect for cultural diversity. This spirit of reverence for resilience and creativity informs her approach. Kirra Swenerton's people come from the British Isles and Ireland, Italy and Armenia. She is an ecologist and performance artist and incorporates earth-based ritual and participatory art creation into her work.

Intro to Somatic T-Group

Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM PDT

6001 Christie Avenue
Emeryville, CA

T-Groups is an intensive affective learning laboratory that experientially catapults participant awareness and growth. The "T" in T-Group stands for "Training". T-Group is an experimental group dynamics laboratory that emerged from National Training Labs in the 1940s and since has enabled leaders in government, military, as well as high profile executives to rapidly experience leadership development in a unique environment where all participants are invited to explore presence, examine impact, and disclose feedback while experimenting with new behaviours. Participants often benefit from a greater degree of diversity and the expression of differences for greater learning and growth. Much of the richness of T-Groups occurs when the unexpected emerges, such as awareness of a patterned behaviour that was once a blindspot, or unforeseen conflict that leads to a growth opportunity. The outcome of a T-Group is unexpected. The ability for dynamics such as forming, storming, norming, and performing to be fluid, fluctuate, and develop organically is also a function of T-Groups. T-Groups emphasize inquiry about the nature of the different levels of communication. The patterns of presence and feedback in T-Groups point to how people show up in a number of contexts and situations that arise, which often leads to provoking a more profound level of awareness among the participants individually and collectively. The impact of a T-Group is immediate and can lead to long-lasting learning inquiries that for many have lasted months and up to years after a T-Group laboratory experience.

Nylie Ataraxia brings a 21st century version of T-Group that is called "Somatic T-Group" that takes T-Group to a new level. Somatic T-Group includes the sensate experience of the body as well as permitting dynamic gestures and movement (versus sitting and talking) in gradually increasing capacities which invite and challenge participants to experience themselves and others newly in space and in contact with one another while remaining present with one's experience and the various levels of impact on indvidual, interpersonal, and group levels.

Highlights from past Somatic T-Group labs:
-Participants observed habitual conflict patterns emerge and role-played new behaviors in a variety of situations
-Participants gained insights into themselves, their behaviors, and their impact upon groups and individuals
-Participants achieved at different times to different degrees independent, interpersonal, and group "flow states"
-Participants, in their own bodies, challenged the norms about how to be and inhabit one's body in space, in a classroom, and in a group with others
-Participants explored various alternative methods of communication beyond language through touch, eye contact, movement, stillness, and empathy
-Participants bravely stepped outside their comfort zones and stretched themselves to take risks and show up with new behaviors that allowed deeper connection, authenticity, and the ability to show up powerfully
-Participants explored beyond groupthink, what it was to be both sovereign individuals and in connection with a group
-Participants engaged in a lot of laughter, cuddling, play, conscious physical contact, improvisational conflict, and exploring both the edges of one another's embodiment of boundaries and responsibility
-Participants explored dominance, submission, power, while challenging and supporting one another

What’s to come in future Somatic T-Groups:
-Continued exploration of conflict modes, states and behaviors
-Continued practice with use of sensate/somatic languaging tools to describe present-moment experiences
-Exploration of the physiology of triggers, distress states, and distress management
-Somatic patterns of codependency and self-responsibility
-Power and submission dynamics in body language

Join us at our next Somatic T-Groups to uncover the profound, activate your awareness, and expand into new capacities that call forth your greatest leadership as well as your most empowered and authentic self.

40th Annual Reclaiming Spiral Dance Ritual

Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 6 PM – 10 PM

The Craneway Pavilion
1414 Harbour Way South,
Richmond, California

Come celebrate! At the same time of year some are celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, All Soul's Day, or Halloween, in our tradition we celebrate Samhain. This is a time we gather to remember and honor our ancestors, beloved dead, and those who have touched our lives.  We honor the sacred cycle of life, death, rebirth and regeneration.  Some call this holiday the Witches' New Year, and we take this opportunity to envision what we want to bring into being in the coming year. Together we will dance in a Spiral to renew our dreams and create the future.

Our intention, or what we will focus on, for the evening:

"To reclaim the golden thread of magic that spans time, and draw from the lessons of the past to weave a just and vibrant future."

This is a participatory ritual with music, dancing, poetry, and magic, with people from many walks of life joining the circle. There are beautiful altars to look at, and opportunities to connect with others. Bring your open heart and your imagination.

Unity Church of the Valley Spiritual Center,
350 N Orchard Ave
Vacaville, CA

Learn a new healing modality in this experiential workshop which explores ancient energy healing knowledge found in the Edgar Cayce Life Readings and discover how to use these tools to bring balance to body, mind and spirit.

There is no aspect of your life that Egyptian Energy Healing can’t help!

AUTHOR SHELLEY KAEHR, PHD, who has worked with vibrational energy medicine for two decades as well as studying Edgar Cayce's readings on the topic, delves into the wealth of information given and brings you Edgar Cayce's Egyptian Energy Healing.

This revolutionary new system of healing found in the Edgar Cayce Life Readings, incorporates energy work, vibrations, gemstones, prayer, affirmations, and even the etheric body, is a complete set of methods designed to help facilitate integration of body-mind-spirit for total mental, physical, and emotional wellness. Students will discover several healing symbols mentioned by Cayce and learn how to use them to bring balance to body, mind and spirit.

In any form of healing, the goal is to change your current frequency—your vibration—into one that is more balanced and aligned for optimal results. Shelley shows us that working with our consciousness to overcome our life lessons and challenges can help us achieve lasting happiness and peace throughout our lives, and that this is something that is actually achievable using these powerful yet practical techniques.

Enriching yet simple, step-by-step information is given to us as tools we can use to apply this ancient knowledge to our everyday modern lives. In this uniquely insightful, experiential, and fun workshop, you will explore:
  • The fundamentals of energy healing—what it is, how it works, and how we can understand and apply it for optimal spiritual and physical health
  • How intention, prayer, affirmations, and even working with our guides and angels can help us
  • Simple effective exercises for raising the body’s vibrational energy
  • Ways to work with the chakra system, colors, stones, sound, oils, and other tools to focus and expand our body’s energy system.

  • Working with healing tools and symbols to accelerate the process within yourself—and for helping others!
  • Receive an attunement into the new ECEEH modality and learn the technique so by the end of the day, you can incorporate the method into your own healing practice

Bay Area Flamenco presents Noche de Cante Gitano

Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 8 PM – 10 PM

La Peña Cultural Center
3105 Shattuck Ave,
Berkeley, California

Bay Area Flamenco presents
NOCHE DE CANTE GITANO

Singer: Diego Agujetas
Guitarist: Pepe del Morao

Vocals & Palmas: Tomasa Peña & Luis de la Tota

This special concert celebrates the release of the CD “Agujetas y Morao,” a project presenting the historic collaboration between two of the most important flamenco families of Jerez de la Frontera, an essential cradle place of flamenco. Diego Agujetas with his voice and Pepe del Morao with his guitar, defend the essence of flamenco Gitano and their family’s legacy. The CD was recorded using the very same guitar that Pepe del Morao's grandfather Manuel Morao played when accompanying Diego Agujeta's father "El Viejo Agujetas" for the legendary TV series "Rito y Geografía del Cante,"

Diego Agujetas, a cult figure among aficionados of the cante, is revered for his ability to evoke the duende of the ancient sounds through his voice.  Born in 1945, he is the son of “Agujetas el Viejo” a blacksmith from the San Miguel neighborhood of Jerez de la Frontera, renowned as a depository for the oldest forms of Gitano singing especially the siguiriyas and martinentes of giants such as Manuel Torres and José de Paula. His mother, from a parallel tradition in el Puerto de Santa María, was heir to a style of song known as the Gitano “romance.” Diego, like his brother, the legendary Manuel Agujetas, keeps these forms alive, passed down through the generations. Bay Area Flamenco is proud to present Diego Agujetas in his first appearance in the U.S.

Pepe del Morao represents one of the most important flamenco guitar-playing dynasties in history. Born in 1986, he began his professional life at age 14 working with his grandfather’s group, Manuel Morao y los Gitanos de Jerez. He was taken under the wing of his uncle Moraíto at a young age, performing with him and with his cousin Diego del Morao throughout Spain and around the world. A skilled accompanist for the cante he has worked with renowned singers such as Juana la del Pipa, Tomasa la Macanita and Jesus Méndez and appears on the CD “Nueva Frontera del Cante de Jerez.”  An accomplished producer, Pepe has directed and composed the music for several large-scale performances over the last several years such as "La Tierra y el Cante" at the 50th anniversary of Jerez's Fiesta de la Bulerias.
