Thai Massage Weekend Immersion

April 28 – 29, 2018 (Saturday – Sunday)

Yogalayam
1717 Alcatraz Ave.
Berkeley, CA

We invite you to take this special opportunity to immerse in the art of giving and receiving Thai Massage with seasoned bodywork practitioners and yoga teachers Alok Rocheleau and Anjuli Mahendra. Together they bring over 20 years of experience as therapists and teachers.

Thai Massage is a traditional healing art form that continues to thrive and evolve in Thailand and around the world. Rooted in the principles of Thai Medicine and Buddhist spirituality, the practice is framed by respect for all beings, balanced action, and loving-kindness.

Through joint mobilization, mindful passive stretching, acupressure, and emphasis on the breath, Thai Massage is an unparalleled therapeutic technique. With proper body mechanics, the practice truly becomes an effortless dance between giver and receiver. As yogis themselves, your teachers will be emphasizing the most fluid and easeful ways to offer compressions and stretching in this course allowing the giver to stay present with the receiver’s experience.

This training is open to everyone. It is a great skillset for yoga teachers, massage therapists or for anyone interested in well-being and bodywork. The work is done in comfortable clothing on a mat. The goal of all good bodywork is to deepen our sensitivity and intuition, prioritizing the client’s journey while taking care of our body as well. You will get the opportunity to practice both roles throughout the weekend. No prior yoga or massage experience is necessary. Come with a friend or solo - no partner needed.

In this course you will learn:
+ To structure and give a full-body Thai Massage
+ Basic principles of Chinese Meridians and Acupressure points
+ How to use your full body and weight for effective and deep massage
+ Biomechanics to give a massage with the least effort
