Embodying Resilience: Virtual

Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 11 AM – 12:15 PM

Shift your Body, Shift your Mind.

We are being required to uplevel with this change.

I'm offering this class again because it was SO great and this time the tech will work! ;P

The ask has been on the table for many years now. We have reached the tipping point. Now we must look inside and draw on our internal resources and ask the big questions:

What is truly important?
How do I live in accordance and harmony with nature?
How do I thrive in the midst of change?

To help us restructure our minds we’ll approach gently through the body.

This class will be an embodied exploration of resilience. I will offer a flowing movement practice involving:
• Yogic practices from Sofiah Thom and Danyasa
• Adaptive energetic grounding work of Tadashi Suzuki
• Breathing practices
• Techniques from various movement practices within the CocrΓ©a synthesis
• Environmental play to make use of our surroundings

The intention is to create the body as a dynamic, versatile, adaptive vessel that is resilient to change. We will find balance within movement, stillness within change, harmony amidst chaos.

Join your global dance community here!

The Virtual Exstatic Dance (#VED) is the opportunity to overcome the current crisis by making the world united through music. For 24 hours, DJs from around the world will live-stream their sets, while participants will live-stream their dance from home. United, again.

The #VED is also a platform for artists, who had to cancel their events or are themselves stuck in quarantine, to express their gifts and connect with the world. The entire 24 hours are guided by the sacred principles of ecstatic dancing, which you can read below:

1. Principle - No Judgment: The #VED is a non-judmental event, meaning that any type of move, including the absence of it, is received and tolerated.

2. Principle - No Drugs: The #VED is a drug-free event, encouraging people to show up sober and enjoy the experience with all their natural senses.

3. Principle - Radical Expression: #VED encourages to let out whatever wants to come out: whether you just want to sit, jump like a frog, or dance ecstatically - let your body run the show.

Let's make the world UNITED IN DANCE!

Neutralizing Fear to Build Immunity

This one hour online class will offer insight into the current COVID19 Pandemic as well as provide energetic techniques to dissipate fear and build much needed immunity – on multiple levels.

Immunity takes on many forms and multiple meanings when we think about wellness, and we will briefly explore some of them together while offering practical solutions to promote wellness physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through energy exercises and guided imagery, we can set the stage for wellness.

We are offering this FREE opportunity in response to the COVID19 (coronavirus) outbreak that is crippling our world with fear, isolation, and a looming uncertainty of what might follow.

We are in this together – and together can make a difference when we join our energies and intentions - even in a cyber-community. No one need be alone during this troubling time.

Empathic Yoga at Home: Let's Laugh!

March 18 - April 17, 2020 12:30 PM – 12:45 PM

Laughter yoga is a light-hearted and very effective way to laugh your way into a brighter day. A quick pick - me - up to change your mood, boost your immune system. Try it, it's super fun!

Laughter truly is the best medicine. In this short 10 - 15 minute, but very effective class, you'll be lead through a series of community connecting exercises to promote voluntary laughter.

Join Ranya and Yoga by Ranya every Tues - Fri at 12:30pm with Empathic Yoga at Home: Laughter Yoga!

But you'll soon see that the voluntary laughter turns to real laughter and that's when the body starts to heal and the mind releases anxiety and fear.  Whether it's real or fake, the body feels the same physiological and psychological effects of laughter. So either way, you'll benefit.

Yoga by Ranya believes yoga is the discipline of an intentional, ever-unfolding, and always observing the practice of being in the world. The lessons on the mat reveal how the body moves, where the mind wanders, or what the spirit intuits providing a glimpse into one's personal truth. And as a result, to recognize and ultimately release the ego.

It is my deepest, heartfelt hope that each student connects to their own radiant light and peace within or Δ€tman. And to recognize their divine selves as a part of the eternal frequency of the Universe, namely, love.

Facilitator: Ranya Anabtawi

Redwood City, California

Join us on a private hike with your UD host or feel free to join the free guided hike with the rangers of the park to learn about the reservoir and the wild flowers.

Let's explore & discover Edgewood Park & Natural Preserve
Finish your weekend with us & this beautiful Hike!

Now at the best time of the year to see & learn
more about our beautiful nature & wealth of California environment.

Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve rests in San Mateo County, California. The sweeping hillsides exemplify the true native flora of California, as the foundation of rock and soil is poor in nutrients. Only a few specialized native plants are adapted to live here--don't miss the unique wildflower bloom in spring. The oak trees dapple the hills with deep green, making for a classically Californian landscape.🌻

Our Trail:
Spring Wild Flowers Walk
Take a moderate 3-mile walk to explore the stunning spring wildflowers with docents from Friends of Edgewood.

We did it at the beginning of Spring season & it was just amazing!

We can't wait to see these beautiful landscapes full of flowers & enjoy all the stories of each of them by our special guide who is an expert of it.

Includes:
- A guided beautiful hike
- Three different guided hikes (energetic 3 miles, standard 2 miles, and beginners to the top and back)
- UD Private Hike
- Charming UD host
- Some trail snacks. (BRING YOUR OWN WATER!)
- Yummy surprise from your lovely host!

Attire:  Dress in layers, sturdy shoes & bring extra water for yourself

About Breema Bodywork and Self-Breema

Breema express the Nine Principles of Harmony upon which they are based. These principles are distilled from a profound understanding of the universal laws that govern life, and consequently, the body, its health, and its relationship to the energetic and physical aspects of the universe. The philosophy of Breema is derived from these same laws. While, in its scope, it takes into consideration the four levels of Existence: matter, energy, Consciousness, and Awareness, and their interrelationships and essential unity, Breema is ultimately practical, and asks its students to take nothing on faith, but to accept as truth only that which they are able to verify for themselves.

Yoga and The Energy Body with Mark Tanaka

March 13 – 15, 2020 (Friday – Sunday)

Breathe Together Yoga
14107 Winchester Blvd, Ste H,
Los Gatos, California

In this course we will approach the energetic body from multiple angles, both theoretically and experientially. The yogis viewed the body not just from a purely physical perspective but also as a subtle, energetic perspective. The intention of this course is to explore how and why the yogis approached the body from this perspective and tie that into useful and practical applications for modern practitioners.

Energetic maps can be utilized as a portal into seeing the interconnected web of our body, mind, and spirit. Energetic maps are a tool that we can use to hack the body and mind and catalyze profound transformation and healing. A portion of the training will be dedicated to practices that gradually aid in the opening of the individual capacity to perceive the energy body. We will review a variety of energetic maps; chakras, nadis, Chinese Meridians, Koshas, and energetic fields, as well as explore a variety of subtle energy practices from Indian, Tibetan, Chinese, and modern energy healing systems of yoga.

As we familiarize ourselves with the energetic maps and theory, we will weave, discuss, and apply these theoretical models and practices within the realms of mental and physical health, as well as spiritual growth. We will look at how assessing our energetic body and clearing energy blocks influences our health, and we will also explore how working on the subtle energy body was instrumental to entering altered states or mystical states for yogis. The course will be helpful to yoga practitioners, yoga teachers, and healers alike.

Cost: $285

The Public Works SF
161 Erie Street,
San Francisco, California

Burning Man Presents…

SF BURNAL EQUINOX 2020 Art Salon & Mixer: COSMIC KALEIDOSCOPE!

Looking for a new perspective on the Cosmos? Perhaps you are well versed in multiversing or curious about the Burnerverse? You’ve come to the right places!

The 2020 Black Rock City art theme explores the quantum kaleidoscope of possibility, the infinite realities of the multiverse, and our own superpositioning as actors and observers in the cosmic cacophony of resonant strings. It’s an invitation to ponder the real, the surreal and the pataphysical, and a chance to encounter our alternate selves who may have followed, or are following, or will follow different decision-paths to divergent realities in the “same” place.

Our Burnal Equinox theme, Cosmic Kaleidoscope, follows in a rather multiocular vein. We invite you to envision, create and enter the colorful eye of a communal kaleidoscope of being, observation and reinvention in space, time, and participatory experience!

Art • Music • Performance • Theme Camps • The Multiverse • The YOUniverse!
Burning Man Project is excited to put the call out for YOU to Participate in the Burnal Equinox 2020 Salon. We look forward to encouraging arts collaboration in the Bay area, and celebrating the midpoint in our Burning Year with YOU!

“Dance is just not my thing. I’m no good at it, I never will be, and THAT’S THE TRUTH!”

Consider that wherever you’re at about dancing— it works. You work! Whether you’re a salsa pro whose been dancing for 10 years or you're a complete beginner—this Meetup is for you.

Not only will Allee and Marian be guiding us through the basics of Salsa Dancing, but we’ll also be practicing elements of communication skills through our dance practice!

The event will be an opportunity to connect with new friends, practice communication, have a breakthrough in self-expression, and just simply have fun with people who get you. You may even meet your life partner! You never know right?

The dress code for this event will be comfortable/presentable clothing! Please bring socks as we won't be wearing shoes in the space.

Persephone's Underground Speakeasy Ball

Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 6:30 PM – 11:59 PM

Alameda Elks Lodge #1015
2255 Santa Clara Ave,
Alameda, California

I got the wind right here in a jar
I got the rain on tap at the bar
I got sunshine up on the shelf

Join us on Saturday evening, March 7, at the hottest underground speakeasy in the Great Depression. Our Lady of the Underground knows that you could use a little pick me up. Our venue, the Alameda Elks Lodge at 2255 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda, CA, actually did run a speakeasy of its own in the 1920’s and this elegant 1909 building retains its historical charm.

So rouge your knees, roll your stockings down, and join us at a riotous Prohibition era dance party with 1920's and 30's music by Sara & Swingtime, one of the hottest dance bands in town, playing hot Swing, cool blues, and elegant vintage ballroom dance music, a beautiful assortment of waltzes, and, of course, the notorious Charleston.

Doors open at 6:30pm. For those wishing a brush-up, there will be a pre-ball dance class at 7pm in vintage fox trot, Charleston, and East Coast Swing. Formal dancing follows from 8pm to midnight.

Vintage or modern evening dress or costumes from the Prohibition era (1919 -1933) are admired, but not required. If you like, feel free to wear your Gatsby Summer Afternoon attire instead. And costumes inspired by “Hadestown” and “Lore Olympus” are very welcome. You'll see lots of different fashions at this Speakeasy!

Needless to say, an excellent no host bar will be at your service and complimentary light snacks will be served (Your potluck contributions to the buffet are very welcome). Our hostess Persephone has an intermission cabaret planned for your entertainment, or you may enjoy cards and conversation in the Salon.

Sound Healing & Acupuncture Immersion

Friday, March 6, 2020 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Breathe Together Yoga
14107 Winchester Blvd, Ste H,
Los Gatos, California

Join us for a one-of-a-kind experience of sound healing and acupuncture treatment. These workshops are an experiential treat for your whole being. Danny will use sound healing of singing bowls, gongs, and chimes to cultivate healing vibrations, passing through our bodies, opening blockages, allowing our minds to quiet. Bridget will apply acupuncture needles to support the season’s expansive energy aligning your body with its highest potential.

The intent is to cultivate movement and flow in the body, shaking out the energetic cobwebs left of winter as we approach spring equinox, and to balance your physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies. This workshop is perfect for anyone feeling ready to move forward on projects or personal growth. We will encourage flow to support letting go of anything holding us back physically or emotionally. Attendance will assist in tuning our inner vibration to the natural potential of the season of spring.

Through the combination of vibrations and acupuncture, we experience an inner calm and deep relaxation that enables us to journey within, center, and connect with our highest self. We absolutely love hosting these workshops due to the synergistic flow between the two modalities. We will be in a restorative, restful posture through most of the session.

Please wear loose fitting clothing that can easily be moved to both knees and elbows with a loose collar or v-neck.

Facilitators: Bridget Puchalsky & Danny Goldberg

Cost: $75
