1901 Edwardian Picnic and Vintage Dance: Free Admission

Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10 am to 4:30 pm

Lincoln Park
1450 High St,
Alameda, CA

Pack a picnic lunch and head to beautiful Lincoln Park for an elegant Edwardian picnic among the roses in Old Alameda, followed by a vintage dance with live music.

The celebrated Bangers & Mash will play an afternoon of beautiful waltzes and polkas to the latest Ragtime music (one-steps, two-steps, and the Castle Schottische) and the new tango from Argentina. The leisurely picnic begins at 10 am with formal dancing from 1 to 4:30 pm.

Edwardian or “Teens” costumes (1900-1914) or “Mary Poppins”-inspired costumes are admired, but are not required. Please bring your own picnic (the event is not a potluck) and, if you like, your own picnic furniture and accessories. Efforts to make your picnic spot look as period as possible are appreciated.

As the August weather in Alameda can be very changeable, special guest Mary Poppins recommends hats, shawls and parasols. If you plan to dance, be sure to wear sensible shoes or boots sturdy enough for outdoor dancing.

Cost: This event is free to attend, but donations are appreciated.

Sketches of Sinatra and Jobim: Free Concert

Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM PDT

FLIGHT Wine Bar & Cafe
1596 Washington Boulevard
Fremont, CA 94539

Duo: Michael Carter (voice) and Ed Johnson (guitar)

The Metro Newspaper acclaims "Latter-day crooner Michael Carter sings in the style of Sinatra." Michael is the fourth-generation manifestation of a musical family and received his first voice lessons from his grandfather, Harry Carter, an accomplished musician and recording artist. He later studied under two of the San Francisco Bay Area's legends – vocalist Nate Pruitt, and pianist and composer Arthur Junker. Michael has since won over listeners at venues as diverse as the Fairmont in downtown San Jose, the Mudd Room in Saratoga, Wente Vineyards in Livermore, and Yoshi's in San Francisco.

"Legendary Bay Area guitarist" (Pacifica Tribune), Ed Johnson is synonymous with gentle guitar strings and the exotic sounds of bossa nova. With seven recording projects and multiple producer’s credits, Ed's mastery of the Brazilian genre has won over fans and airplay worldwide. Ed's road into the life of a musician was a natural progression. His mom often played piano and sang standards while his dad would 'scratch' along on the fiddle or the ukulele. Ed began performing with Michael in 2013. As a duo, their sound is evocative of Francis Albert Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim. Ed also plays his original compositions with Nova Tempo, a Brazilian jazz ensemble.

Full day Holotropic Chakra Massage Workshop

Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 9 AM - 5 PM

East Bay Community Space
507 55th street,
Oakland, California

Are you ready to clear stuck energy and emotions?

Are you excited to find your capacity to surrender?

Do you want to learn how to hold space for someone to undergo an intense re-birthing?

**Disclaimer: Full-on energetic and emotional releases are possible**

In this guided ceremony, we will hold each other through an intense journey into our bodies and expanded states of consciousness. Holotropic breathwork, which means "moving toward wholeness," is a powerful practice that energizes our bodies and opens us up to new and profound experiences. In this Tantric adaptation of the practice, we will move energy up through each energy center (chakra) to enter into a totally open and present state in our bodies. Together we will be moving energy up through the body to the crown through breath, sound and movement.

You will partner up with another participant to hold space for each other. In the morning one partner will experience the journey while the other provides support. In the afternoon we will reverse roles and the other participant will experience the journey. In the role of the space-holder, you'll be tuning into your wisdom and intuition to guide the energy through the journier's body through consensual touch and loving presence.

For some participants, this journey has evoked intense experiences including big emotional releases, trauma release, expanded states of consciousness, and primary spiritual experiences. It can be both challenging and deeply rewarding.

This is a fully clothed event. You are welcome to participate at exactly the level that feels right for you.

Open to singles, couples, triads, etc... and people of all genders.

Facilitated by: Leslie Grace and Matt Sturm

Cost: $100

Shamanic Healer Training

July 28 – 29, 2018 (Saturday – Sunday)

Pacifica, California

This is a practical, hands-on class that opens the doorway to your natural gifts as a healer. Certificate available. It is a powerful two-day journey into shamanism and spiritual healing for beginners as well as for healing practitioners of any discipline.

FROM AMOS: I believe that spiritual healing is amazing and magical, but not necessarily mysterious. Accessing the unseen world of spirit and intuition can be as normal as touch and sound and available to all. My classes offer a practical and easily understandable pathway to your natural gifts as a healer and to your intuition, without the need for superstition. You can "get it right" a thousand different ways.

CLASS 1: focuses on CLEARING. Clearing of stress, disease, confusion, blocks or beliefs that you no longer need. Whether known or unknown, old or new, from your daily life, carried for others, or even from other lifetimes.

WHAT WE WILL DO: Participants will be initiated into shamanic ritual. We will move beyond ordinary reality and learn to connect with spirit in many of its aspects, seen or unseen: including spiritual guides, the four elements, spirit animals, angels and others.

You will be introduced to Shamanic Journeying and also to your "spiritual home base" - a place to access protection, guidance, vitality, intuition and unconditional love. This is a place you can always access to ask questions and receive support.

You will also be introduced to my new healing model, which includes all modalities of healing, from spiritual to talk therapy, from body work to medical treatment.

We will create a safe and heart-centered environment to access the spiritual help that is available to us at all times, mindful of your unique gifts. Creating a loving container for health and healing for others allows you to heal as well.

OTHER CLASSES & CERTIFICATION: This weekend is the first in a series of 8 classes. The rest will be offered over the next year. Call Amos for details about the Shamanic healing certificate program.

Do you drive yourself crazy by criticizing yourself constantly?

Would you like to be more calm and confident?

Are you are tired of feeling like you have two left feet?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU!

This fun and interactive 2-day workshop is an introduction to the basics of Inner Relationship Focusing, a mind/body awareness method which helps you HEAL THE INNER CRITIC and BECOME MORE CALM AND CONFIDENT. It's also an introduction to Argentine tango, which is simply walking in an embrace like in the photo above. If you can walk, you can do tango. We use tango as a vehicle to practice being FULLY in your own body while connecting with another. Tango and Focusing both show us how to live our lives better.

Designed for people with no dance experience, this workshop is a powerful way to become more PRESENT to yourself and others. This is NOT a typical dance class about just learning steps or technique. It IS a great way for people who would like to dance but feel they have two left feet to get comfortable with dancing.

NO PARTNER NEEDED. Singles and couples are welcome.

Facilitators: Lucinda Hayden and Tom Lewis

Cost: $247
