Kick off International Women’s Month on Friday March 1st
with Mommas of HOT Jazz Swing. Join us for a night of dazzling jazz at the
Santa Cruz Food Lounge. Music will be from the Jazz Age Era which essentially
matches America’s suffrage act time period (1920). During these years, women
activists gained confidence, developed skills, mobilized resources, and built a
social movement. At its peak with the ratification of the nineteenth amendment,
and the entrance of the free spirited flapper, women began to take on a larger
role in society and culture. The 1920s saw the emergence of woman singers and
musicians, artists and entrepreneurs.
Food and libation service starts at 5:00pm.
“Mommas of HOT Jazz Swing” show starts at 6:00pm -
featuring HOT Jazz singers Jen Karno, Stella D’Oro, Jeannie Liu and Lydia Joy.
