Rhythmix Cultural Works Hosts Three Top Local Acts: Those Darn Accordions, Jet Black Pearl and Big Lou the Accordion Princess

“Sexy, raw, and diabolically funny. Right up there with NRBQ as a band with a real point-of-view.” —Teller (the quiet one), Penn & Teller

“It takes guts — or maybe brains, maybe balls the size of a 1927 Hohner — to pull this shtick off.” —LA New Times

Accordion Frenzy! Get into the swingin’ spirit of the holidays with some world-class accordion music with a modern twist. Join us at Rhythmix Cultural Works on Sunday, December 9 at 8PM for a raucous, rockin’ good time featuring three top acts including Those Darn Accordions, Jet Black Pearl and Big Lou the Accordion Princess.

San Francisco-based Those Darn Accordions, America’s favorite rock ’n’ roll accordion band, is sure to entertain any crowd. Together, frontman/accordion whiz Paul Rogers, accordion player Suzanne Garramone, bass player Lewis Wallace and drummer Bill Schwartz showcase their own original rock and funk songs, while exploring more-eclectic genres like ska, country and, of course, polkas. Ultimately, their goal is always to entertain with an emphasis on solid musicianship and a hilarious sense of humor.

“Fans can expect to hear a lot of our trusted favorites that range from polka to pop, rock and the downright weird,” TDA mastermind Paul Rodgers says. “We also have some new original material that many long-time fans will not have heard yet.”

Jet Black Pearl is an accordion diva who has performed on more than a thousand stages all over the West Coast and Europe. While onstage, she sings, raps and beatboxes about various humorous topics including slugs in love, criminal gurus and hallucinating butterflies.

Big Lou the Accordion Princess is always the life of the party. Polkas, waltzes, cha-chas, tangos, western swing, you name ’em, they’ll play ’em. Together for over a decade, this San Francisco-based band plays family fairs, polka festivals, night clubs, birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, senior centers, music festivals, beer festivals and Oktoberfests. And, rest assured, they’re sure to entertain you.

Expect the unexpected—and definitely don’t miss it! This event will sell out.
