In this workshop we will be discussing and learning about
Karma Yoga. Karma Yoga is defined in the Bhagavad Gita as the yoga of Action.
Arjuna, one of the heroes of the Mahabharata and the hero of the Gita
represents a man of Action, a kshatriya (Warrior). Learn about chapter 3 of the
Gita on Karma Yoga and how these spiritual teachings inspired Ram Dass.
Through experiential, didactic and socratic means we will
be studying Karma Yoga as a path of grihasta (house holder) spirituality. We
will discuss and share the wisdom of our thoughtful and kind community members
on what we can do to make the world a better place, and how these efforts
contribute to our own happiness. We will also conclude with some singing and
chanting.
Ram Dass has spent a lifetime making the deep wisdom of
Eastern Spirituality accessible to those in the west, and this workshop focuses
on specific teachings and techniques Ram Dass has learned with regards to
understanding happiness. From specific meditation techniques, kirtan singing
and studying scriptural works, Ram Dass has explored the depths of Eastern
thought from Buddhism to Hinduism to bring back these teachings.
