Zydeco band, Cajun music, dance floor, Louisiana-style
food & drink. And let's raise funds to aid the No Cal fire victims!
Word. A Cafe, located at 5114 Third St., is sponsoring a
very special appearance of The Zydeco Flames, the leading West Coast zydeco
band featuring the amazing Lloyd Meadows on lead vocals, washboard and
harmonica. April Spears, board chairperson for the Bayview’s African-American
Arts & Cultural District, will serve as the emcee.
We will have a dance floor, tables and chairs, and New
Orleans-style food will be available with a reasonable donation, proceeds to go
to a fund to aid victims of the Northern California fires, through the Bishop's
Ranch Episcopal Conference Center in Healdsburg, CA.
During intermission, The African Outlet at 4942 Third St.
will stage a multicultural Africa-Filé Fashion Show to dazzle your eyeballs.
Kids and adults will model African garb while Outlet proprietor Judah Dwyer
shares how the vibrant fabrics represent unique communities from the Mother
Continent.
Our Third Street corridor is THE place for great music.
This event represents our first at-large community event in the Bayview, at the
Firefighters Union Hall at 325 Newhall Street. We are proud to feature the
Zydeco Flames in a rare San Francisco appearance. Their sizzling roots rhythms
are timeless and the execution of them relentless, with a stunningly powerful
groove.
Cost: $20 - $25
