While
culturally Winter is often a time of joy and celebration, in Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is more appropriately a time for slowing down,
reflection and processing our fears, sadness and grief. We can see the
synchronicity of this in nature as we witness the cycle of life of the plants
around us becoming dormant, in preparation for the birth of Spring. It is
important to acknowledge our natural ties to the earth as our home and to honor
our physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual needs to be in harmony with
the seasons.
Yin
Yoga is a slow, steady, and often stationary practice, holding poses for
several minutes at a time. It is a style of yoga that allows us to draw the
attention inward, to heal and fully inhabit ourselves as we cultivate
attentiveness, softness and kindness toward ourselves and others.
In
this workshop, Courtney will be working with ear acupuncture points. In TCM,
the ear represents a microsystem of the human body, and is used for treatment
of health conditions and to target the healing of specific areas of the body.
Participants will receive a basic treatment while in final resting pose,
savasana.
