Oakland’s Redwood Tango Ensemble celebrates the vinyl
release of Prizefighter, wildly imaginative contemporary tango music written by
bandoneonist and composer Charles Gorczynski and developed by the band over the
last two years. A deeply personal and adventurous set, the ensemble presents
the album in its entirety, along with other contemporary tango works by Diego
Schissi, Julian Peralta, Daniel Ruggiero, and Astor Piazzolla.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Redwood Tango Ensemble (RTE) is a contemporary tango
sextet from Oakland, California. Led by composer and bandoneonist Charles
Gorczynski, the ensemble has developed a signature style and sound within the
world of tango composition, writing honest and imaginative music that
challenges conventional notions of genre and musical identity. RTE is a tango
group in its lifeblood, and its sound and sensibility also reach into new
music, chamber music, and modern jazz.
