Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 7:30 PM - 9 PM

Li's Wushu Academy
10268 Bandley Dr, Ste 107-B,
Cupertino, CA 95014

“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears,
we dance for madness, we dance for fears,
we dance for hopes, we dance for screams,
we are the dancers; we create the dreams.”
― Albert Einstein

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Dance therapy is offering numerous benefits for physical, mental, and emotional health. Music itself can be a very powerful tool. It can affect our moods and our state of well-being by triggering memories and other emotional experiences. When dance or any movement is set to music, it can create a stress relieving, joyful and sometimes healing moment for those involved, as well as increasing/releasing endorphins in the brain.

Please join us for the dance movement therapy workshop in Cupertino, where we will explore different attributes of the emotional and physical well-being through set of the creative and fun exercises, mixed with the episodes, filled with free-form dancing.

Main benefits you may expect:

- Getting a good ability to express suppressed emotions
- Establishing a positive and rejuvenating connection with your body
- Improving general physical fitness and gross motor skills development
- Processing internal negative beliefs, improving confidence and self-esteem
- Encourages creativity and imagination
- Connecting others people on emotional level
- Creating a positive life outlook, addressing stressful life events and depressive episodes

Every workshop is different, and the facilitator will follow the flow, adjusting the list of the exercises and free-form dance activities to the created team spirit and atmosphere.

Important notes:

- No partner or previous dancing experience necessary.
- All ages and physical capabilities are welcome. You choose you own level of participation and involvement.
- Please try to be on time, as it is easier to “catch a wave” if you are present from the class beginning.
- Clothing: anything that would let you move freely.
- Shoes: dancing bare-feet is the best, but you can also use soft flat shoes. Please no outdoor shoes on the floor.
- There is plenty of parking near the studio. Follow the GPS guidance, however as soon as you turn to the parking lot from Bandley Drive, you need to drive around the building to find the Li's Wushu Academy Entrance at the back. There are no entrances from the front or sides of the building.

Workshop Facilitator: Tanya Pekker, LMFT

Cost: Recommended donation $15 (cash, at the door).

R/evolutionary R/elating Weekend Workshop

December 9 –11, 2016 (Friday – Sunday)

Church of Soul
1550 5th St,
Oakland, California 94607

Let’s face it: We all yearn to give and receive love. We want richer relationships, deeper friendships, more closeness and community in our lives. We may sometimes even notice... in quiet moments… that we’re dogged by a nagging sense of loneliness, separateness.

And yet, when we look closely, we find that we, ourselves, are sabotaging the connection we want — with our own defensive conditioning, our old patterns of fear, dependency, and blame...
We find that we are hiding from each other, fighting with each other.

How are we to drop this old, rusty armor so that we may, at last, see each other clearly… hold each other closely?

I want to share with you a way I’ve learned to do just that.
I want to help you, as I have many others all over the world, to:
– Heal close relationships, with full-body forgiveness
– Let go of shame, fear, attachment to approval
– Open-heartedly share yourself and support others to do so
– Be completely and compassionately honest
– Go beyond blame and use conflict creatively
– Ask for everything you want, expanding your ability to give & receive
– Create deeper love, connection & intimacy.

Cost: $200 - $500 (suggested donation)

Restore I Renew I Rejuvenate a Seasonal Wellness Workshop

Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM PST

Bend Yoga Studio
1935 Hayes Street
San Francisco, CA 94117

Learn how to take better care of your body during the busy holiday season through a balanced approach from Yoga and Chinese Medicine perspectives. This winter workshop includes:
ü  Restorative/Yin yoga with light massage
ü  A balancing ear acupuncture treatment
ü  TCM seasonal nutrition and lifestyle tips

Connecting these healing modalities will help bring you to a whole new level of rejuvenation, balance and overall wellbeing. A perfect way to relax before entering the stress of the holidays!

While culturally Winter is often a time of joy and celebration, in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is more appropriately a time for slowing down, reflection and processing our fears, sadness and grief. We can see the synchronicity of this in nature as we witness the cycle of life of the plants around us becoming dormant, in preparation for the birth of Spring. It is important to acknowledge our natural ties to the earth as our home and to honor our physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual needs to be in harmony with the seasons.

Yin Yoga is a slow, steady, and often stationary practice, holding poses for several minutes at a time. It is a style of yoga that allows us to draw the attention inward, to heal and fully inhabit ourselves as we cultivate attentiveness, softness and kindness toward ourselves and others.

In this workshop, Courtney will be working with ear acupuncture* points. In TCM, the ear represents a microsystem of the human body, and is used for treatment of health conditions and to target the healing of specific areas of the body. Participants will receive a basic treatment while in final resting pose, savasana.

*Auricular acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, which can work to enhance mood, relieve stress, aid in smoking cessation, alleviate pain, and promote better sleep.

Courtney is a licensed acupuncturist, certified massage therapist and a registered yoga teacher offering services in San Francisco.

Tantra Puja The Art of Adoration with Monique Darling

Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

4210 Holden Street
Emeryville, CA 94608
United States

Tantra Puja is a sacred ancient ritual that has been practiced for thousands of years. It is a beautiful ceremony of honoring and adoring the Divine that dwells within each of us, and brings us into a profound space of connection and universal Love.

This evening’s Puja is dedicated to both men and women. In fact, participants will not know whether they will be in the giving or receiving role until they arrive. Men may end up in the giving role or the receiving role, and the same for the women. Though the presentation starts off with an introduction to some of the esoteric practices of Tantra to give us a context for the Puja, we will soon switch gears and actually engage in this heartening practice. We will use movement, sound and the five elements, all given to us with ample instruction, enriching each experience throughout the ceremony. You may find yourself turning inwards and becoming aware of abundant love and innate beauty that is part of your being.

In a Tantra Puja, participants in the giving role have the opportunity to express their unconditional love and adoration towards women and men alike. This ceremony opens people's hearts in a way that allows them to see the inner beauty and the Divine within us all. The participants in the giving role will be instructed in performing an ancient ritual, which is simple in form yet very powerful in practice. As the participants in the receiving role accept the offerings and adoration, they in turn connect with unconditional love and reflect that adoration back to the givers with their presence. Taking part in these Pujas is a very powerful way to reconnect and relate with the feminine and masculine. It is through the practice of unconditional loving that we find that any emptiness or longing we feel within us can be filled with a simple act of giving.

This ancient ritual is thousands of years old. It was brought to life by Tantrikas who implemented the religious and spiritual practices of Yogis and sages into the Art of Adoration, the practice of breathing life and awareness through the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether) in offering to the divine within every living being. We will offer fire, incense, roses, water, chocolate and more in adoration and worship of our divine Goddesses.

Women, Devis, though not required, you are welcome to dress for the evening – perhaps adorn yourself with jewelry you feel most happy in, or wear the scarf you love that you can’t wear to work. It is your evening; indulge yourself as you wish, but please be comfortable.

Men, Shiva, though not required, you are welcome to dress for the evening too. Think of the times the goddesses in your lives had asked you to dress a certain way for their pleasure – well, this may be an opportunity to do just that, but please be comfortable. You may bring flowers, chocolates, or other divinely treats as your offering to the goddesses in the room.

Cost: $35
