170 S Market St,
San Jose, CA 95112
A variety of non-stop live music steeped in blues, soul,
gospel and zydeco from around the globe will perform in downtown San Jose's
central park - Plaza de Cesar Chavez for the 35th Annual Fountain Blues
Festival.
Confirmed headliner is THE CALIFORNIA HONEYDROPS
www.cahoneydrops.com
Led by dynamic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lech
Wierzynski, and drawing on diverse musical influences from Bay Area R&B,
funk, Southern soul, Delta blues, and New Orleans second-line, the Honeydrops
bring vibrant energy and infectious dance-party vibes to their shows. They’ve
taken the party all over the world: on 9 European tours, featured slots at such
premiere festivals as Monterey Jazz, High Sierra, and Outside Lands, and recent
performances supporting B.B. King, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, and Allen Toussaint.
Whether in those high-profile performances or in more intimate venues where the
band itself can leave the stage and get down on the dance floor, the California
Honeydrops’ shared vision and purpose remain: to make the audience dance and
sing.
AND THE REST OF THE LINE UP....
Otis Taylor Band - Part of Taylor's appeal is his
contrasting character traits. But it is precisely this element of surprise that
makes him one of the most compelling artists to emerge in recent years. In
fact, Guitar Player magazine writes, "Otis Taylor is arguably the most
relevant blues artist of our time." Whether it's his unique
instrumentation (he fancies banjo and cello), or it's the sudden sound of a
female vocal, or a seemingly upbeat optimistic song takes a turn for the
forlorn, what remains consistent is poignant storytelling based in truth and
history.
