Woodchopper's Ball
(Verdi Club) 2424 Mariposa Street,
San Francisco, California 94110
The Woodchopper's Ball, named after the classic 1939
swing tune by the Woody Herman Orchestra (and their biggest hit!), is a new
weekly Tuesday swing dance event held at the beautiful historic Verdi Club in
San Francisco. It features an all-ages dance party with a different live band
each week and a free basic lesson, beginning and intermediate monthly classes
in Lindy Hop and Balboa, a large 2500 square-foot dance floor, and a full bar
and lounge (21+ only). Brought to you by Hep Jen and Ken, the long-time regular
instructors and organizers at San Francisco’s Lindy in the Park.
Don Neely, bandleader, arranger, reed player, songwriter,
and vocalist, leads this fine jazz ensemble, authentically recapturing the
excitement of the celebrated music originating from the Jazz Age of the 1920s
and the early Swing Era of the 1930s.
