Dream Folk + Sound Bath by Lucia Lilikoi

Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 7 PM - 9 PM

The Center SF
548 Fillmore St,
San Francisco, California

Lucia’ music comes from a place where dreams are created. Her songwriting is an homage to our connection with the elements, water, earth, fire. And her voice is both soulful and ethereal, she calls her genre "dream folk”. Lucia will be sharing new songs, that are calls and prayers to the natural forces to guide and protect us.

About the Sound Bath:

Lucia's Sound baths are spontaneous, improvised prayers to the universe and mantras that invoke the sacred in common places. Lucia uses an array of instruments and sound making devices that she has collected throughout her journey as a musician and she also uses a looping pedal, harmonizing her voice and instruments into ethereal and primal soundscapes. The sound bath is a tool to travel inwards, to listen to one’s breath, feel the subtle body, and surrender. When we enter altered states through sound, the brain generates alpha and theta brainwaves that allows for a state of meditation, deep reflection, and daydreaming. When we support the nervous system to relax, the body is able to recalibrate and heal itself. Come and receive, relax, and replenish!!

Hot Club Faux Gitane

Saturday, June 9, 2018, 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM

The Back Room
1984 Bonita Avenue
Berkeley, CA 94704

Hot Club Faux Gitane is an acoustic swing band like no other you've ever heard! They draw inspiration from the Gypsy jazz tradition pioneered by Django Reinhardt and his Quintette du Hot Club de France, with acoustic guitars and double bass providing the rhythmic core. But the band sets itself apart by featuring mandolin, bassoon, and vocals, with the occasional clarinet and melodica.

This unique instrumentation, along with inventive and often witty arrangements, bring new vitality and freshness an old favorite genre. Hot Club Faux Gitane also augments the traditional Gypsy repertoire with original compositions, jazz standards, and even Latin tunes — all played in their unique style. This upbeat, toe-tapping music will have you at least bopping in your seat, if not dancing in the aisles!

Hot Club Faux Gitane is: Shelly Bort (vocals), Gary Williams (mandolin), Dave Wells (bassoon, clarinet, vocals), Billy Gay (guitar and vocals), Eric Johnson (guitar), and John Ady (double bass).

Point Reyes Campout Yoga & Hiking Retreat

June 8 -10, 2018 (Friday – Sunday)

Point Reyes, CA

There’s something about walking on open landscapes that awakens something deep in us.
* Adventure: hiking, the coast
* Nourishment: healthy creative meals
* Home: coast campground
* Spirit: yoga, meditation, starry nights, ocean
* What’s unique: the breathtaking California coast

There’s something about hiking on open trails that can awaken something in us we haven’t felt since we were young. It is similar to the feeling we get when we roll out our yoga mats, breath a little, sweat a little and get quiet. There is sense of freedom and ease we find when we are able to be quiet and move our bodies the way they are meant to move. Spend an epic weekend with community in the world-renowned Point Reyes National Seashore. We will reconnect with what is real around us and within in us. We’ll dig deep, hike and adventure.

This retreat is a backpacking trip and involves hiking 2-3 miles to the camping location with your camping gear. It is a moderate hike, but please check in with yourself to make sure you are up for the adventure (it’s completely worth it!). Camping gear is not provided but we can connect you with affordable rentals.

Cost: $450
