HOW WEIRD 2018 Street Faire

Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 12 PM - 8 PM

How Weird Street Faire
Howard St at 2nd St,
San Francisco, California

Come celebrate peace, creativity, and the start to the 2018 festival season!
Join us as we make history, again. Disco isn’t dead, it just got weird.
After 11,657.27 years of civilization, we all need more weird.

In the not too far away future, we shall harken back to a simpler time, a funkier time, a more colorful time. It was a time of bellbottoms and big collars. A time of big cars and bigger hair. A time when lava lamps lit the land, and rocks were pets. Remember when fun was really fun? Remember when life was simple and easy? Remember three Thursdays ago at 10am?

The Disco Ball Inferno - a powerful theme based on a true story. The greatest story ever danced! Join us as we do the time warp back to the 1970s. It’s easy to do, put on a colorful costume and take a jump to the left…

“The Disco Ball Inferno” will be a hymn to high weirdness, and a tribute to all things shiny. This year’s theme of “That Hot Disco Thing” is a parody of the 1970s, when modern communal dancing became mainstream and DJs took over the world. It was the best of times, and the worst of times, but mostly somewhere in the middle. “Disco Days Part 2 - The Weird Year” will take place in the heart of the emerging Downtown by the Bay. Surrounded by glistening new towering buildings, “The Incredibly Strange Adventures of the Ball of Many Colors” will be a sanctuary of weirdness in a rapidly gentrifying world. Creativity will flow through the streets of San Francisco during “Insert Theme Name Here”. Prepare yourselves, on May 6th the greatest street faire in the galaxy collides with “Great Disco Balls and the Beanbag Factory”.

How Weird is a star in the emerging ultra-conscious potentially semi-transformational independent event movement (or EUCPSTIEM). An amazing cutting-edge technicolor testament to the future and the past and, of course, the present. So woke we shine like a mirrored ball. Or as they say on the flip side, one wild and crazy faire!

DANCE MUSIC

There will be 10 stages of world-class electronic music, featuring some of the best DJs, music producers, and sound systems on the planet.

The legendary soundtrack for the Disco Ball will be provided by…
Symbiosis
CCC (Consortium of Collective Consciousness)
Muti Music, Enchanted Forest, Northern Nights
Opel and Opulent Temple
Tantra and Fusion
Mountain Lion Hi-Fi
SomaFM
Think You Can DJ Game Show

Modern Dance Cultue 1.0 (which peaked during the Summer of Love) was an age of experimentation and exploration. Modern Dance Culture 2.0 (as disco is uncommonly called) was an unsuccessful attempt to reach the potential of dance that we now take for granted in the late stages of Modern Dance Culture 3.0 (or EDM). Disco wasn’t the dance we wanted, but it was the dance we got. And we would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Cost: $15 - $20

Through experiential sessions, we will explore the soul+body connection, and uncover the relationship between our ancient human physiology and our innate connection to nature.

During this weekend, learn how to:

» Connect with the life force of Nature through guided journeying and visionary meditation, to help transform fear, anger, and jealousy.

Healing Through the Akashic Records

May 3 – 5, 2018 (Thursday – Saturday)

San Jose, CA

Healing Through the Akashic Records is the path to discovering your soul’s purpose and perfection! It is the path to transforming your sacred wounds into Divinely inherent goodness!

We all have wounds and want to heal them. Healing Through the Akashic Records is a profound journey of grace and unconditional love that transforms these wounds into sacred understandings of healing and discovery.

“You don’t have to wait for someone else to save you, fix you or relieve you of your distress – and in reality, no one else can do this for you anyway. Others can be supportive, but they can’t go to those places within you where the hurt is all-consuming. Only you can go there on your behalf.”–Linda Howe

Working in your Akashic Records using the Pathway Prayer Process, you will:
·         Identify your primary sacred wound – the painful event, person or circumstance that is holding you “hostage” and keeping you stuck in your wound;
·         Learn strategies to free you from your old ideas and limiting patterns;
·         Gain tools for making choices aligned with your highest good and most authentic self;
·         Experience three ways to activate the “Ascension Matrix” that helps you to actualize what your heart desires.

Facilitator: Julie Hawkins

Cost: $450 - $550

Dancing with props & finding your flow: Free Workshop

Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 6 PM - 9 PM

Flowspace
6315 Doyle St,
Emeryville, California

Find your flow through the flow arts - play and dance with props!

Taught by flow artist Remy June, this free workshop presented as part of Bay Area Dance Week takes you through a series of exercises that help you access the flowstate, and harness it into your dance and performance. It’s huge fun, and will have you grinning ear to ear :)

The workshop goes from 6-7pm, and will be followed by a free open community jam from 7-9pm, where you can play with a wide range of sample props, including poi, staffs, levitation dance wand, torofluxes, pixelwhips and more.

>>> What are the flow arts?
The flow arts encompasses the emerging movement-based artforms that integrate dance and creative exploration of movement with skill-based prop manipulation. The Flow Arts draw from a multitude of ancient and modern movement disciplines from Maori poi spinning to modern firedancing, from martial arts and taichi to circus arts and hula hooping.

The Flow Arts are a new way to dance, explore and interact with the physical world, a movement meditation practice, a fun and creative outlet, and a serious technical pursuit of mastery. For many of its practitioners, it is a way to achieve the mind-state known as “flow”, a state of optimal experience, also known as "the zone" or getting in a groove.
