Foot massage exchange and cuddling

Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Intrahealth
21020 Homestead Rd # B,
Cupertino, CA

The latest entry in the self-help revolution, the cuddle party is a way "for adults to get together and explore affectionate touch and communication without it becoming sexualized”.

In this meeting we’ll do more exercises (exploring how to move energy to upper chakras, to leave longer…). We’ll switch more during our hug train exercise to observe energy shifts, and most importantly we’ll aim to have better gender balance, by moving people and couples in from the waiting list. Also, people love foot massage exchange, and it will be on the plate again.

Most people want to be held, and be the big or little spoon, some people just want to hold hands, some people just want an arm around them, some people have strong emotions come up, and some people just want silence and they want to snooze. Everything is up to you and you have power to say YES or NO to anything, and 'maybe' we classify as NO!

Zero tolerance for harassment!!!

Cost: $20 for men and $10 for ladies

The Story of the Lover: An Evening of Exploring the Myth with Alchemy, Medicine Stories, and Facilitated Workshop

Friday, September 30, 2016 at 7 PM - 10 PM

Finnish Kaleva Hall
1970 Chestnut St,
Berkeley, California 94702

Join us for an exploration of the mythology of the archetype of The Lover. This event is for men and women and explores the myths about love that have been holding us hostage.

Through story, song, and dance~ this alchemical experience uses myth as the catalyst for exploring our collective relationship to love and how is it expressed in relationship to our beloveds...and also in our communities, and greater society.

One might call it a performance, another would call it a workshop, another would call it a ritual. We will call it a commitment to transforming old myths that no longer serve our emerging culture.

Rejuvenating Yoga / Feldenkrais Retreat

October 7 - 10, 2016 (Friday – Monday)

Presentation Center
19480 Bear Creek Road,
Los Gatos, CA 95033

Please join us for a rejuvenating body movement retreat on Columbus Day weekend in the Santa Cruz Mountains. For three days and three nights we will practice yoga, Feldenkrais, dance, hike and meditate at the relaxing Presentation Center.

Located just 20 minutes from Silicon Valley and 30 minutes from the San Francisco airport, this land is a sanctuary away from home filled with many beautiful redwood trees, wildlife, a lake, sunshine and stillness. In between retreat offerings there will be plenty of free time to indulge in hiking, swimming, a good book or a cup of tea in the natural habitat all around.

What is Feldenkrais?

The Feldenkrais method consists of gentle movement sequences all geared towards improving postural alignment, refining coordination functions, and restoring our innate graceful movement.   Each lesson will revolve around a particular theme (such as opening the heart, the lower extremity and connection with the earth etc.) and will be interwoven with empowerment tools & meditation.

What kind of yoga will we do?

In the morning we will engage in a brief active asana practice to warm up the body, build strength and awareness of breath. In the afternoon we will have a gentle Hatha and/or Yin yoga session to balance energy, digestion and immune function. This work will complement the Feldenkrais lessons of each day.

What should I expect to receive from these offerings?

The results of combining these two practices include increased clarity, focus and freedom in your body and in your mind.  Participants also report improved sleep, digestion and experiencing and a wonderful opportunity to relax from the business of day to day life.

All experience/ levels are welcome.

New Alchemy Spinning Classes

Monday, October 10, 2016 at 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

InterPlay
2273 Telegraph Ave,
Oakland, California 94612

These classes are an invitation to explore and deepen our Alchemy Spinning practice –a powerful and yet accessible somatic modality at the intersection of mindfulness.

Whirling, rather than being a goal or a destination, becomes a spiral journey towards greater body wisdom, self-expression and self-knowledge.

For years, Raquel Boluda, has been exploring the whirling dances of the world to understand and distill their benefits, and to connect these with other disciplines and somatic wisdom traditions. The result is a truly unique discipline that bridges the somatic and the transpersonal realms, and that opens up new frontiers of discovery to professional dancers, dance lovers and novices alike.

The core of the practice is the connection between the Heaven and Earth that gets established through our spinal column. This becomes a gateway to experience a state of expanded consciousness and, simultaneously, a state of complete presence.

In our practice we will use different forms of dance, movement, breath work, meditation, and contemplative art making.
This practice is open to people of all ages, levels, and physical conditions, as each person will be encouraged to find their own edges for somatic exploration on their own terms.

On the Edge of the (Un)Known, Science and Nonduality

October 20-23, 2016 (Thursday – Sunday)
(Pre-conference Workshops: October 19-20, 2016)

Dolce Hayes Mansion
200 Edenvale Ave,
San Jose, California 95136

I do not negate the world; I see it appearing in consciousness, which is the totality of the known in the immensity of the unknown.
― Nisargadatta Maharaj

What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do with mysticism.
― Albert Einstein

Both science and spirituality reflect the human urge to know – that perennial itch to make sense of the world and who we are. This search is an essential part of being human. We live life supported by knowledge. However, the larger our knowledge the larger the shore of the unknown becomes.

We probe reality the best we can with our tools of understanding: structures, models, theories, myths, beliefs, teachings, etc. These tools of understanding also define the limits our knowledge. Is it possible to go beyond the limits of our tools? And what would it take?

This year at SAND we will explore that edge where knowledge meets the unknown and the unknowable. We will navigate that space where something else takes over – call it intuition, deeper knowing, trust, surrender – a place from which new discoveries in science and realizations in spirituality become possible. What is the horizon of our current knowledge, and where are we expanding the edge of the unknown?

What if science and spirituality, while responding to our collective aspiration to grow as a species in a world filled with mystery and wonder, would no longer need to carry the burden of having all the answers? What if our search is considered open-ended, rather then having to arrive at a grand theory of life or at a final state of enlightenment? What if, while we probe deeper into reality and who we are, we realize that the knowledge we gather is just a stepping-stone and not the arrival at a final destination?

The Celestial Sound Symphony

Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 7 PM - 8:30 PM

Downtown Yoga Shala
450 S 1st Street,
San Jose, California 95113

Please join us for a magical evening of sound and vibration with Danny Goldberg playing the gongs, tibetan bowls and chimes, along with Jessica Neideffer working with crystal alchemy singing bowls.

Sound healing has been used for thousands of years across the world to access cells on a deeper level. Sound is a powerful tool used to communicate with the cells of our body. We work with sound to re-harmonize and balance the cells back to their natural frequencies.

Lay down & allow yourself to receive the healing sound vibrations of Gongs, Tibetan & Crystal Singing Bowls. These sacred sounds will guide us into a deep meditation as the vibrations pass through our bodies, opening blockages & allowing our minds to quiet. The physiological impact of sound on the body, emotions & cognition is apparent. Through the vibrations of these instruments we experience an inner calm & deep relaxation that enables our body & mind to fully surrender & receive.

Please bring your yoga mat, pillow, and/or blanket to make sure you are comfortable.

Lifeline: Dance Workshop 15

Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 7:30 PM - 9 PM

Li's Wushu Academy
10268 Bandley Dr, Ste 107-B,
Cupertino, CA 95014

“Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living?” ----Bob Marley

Dance therapy is offering numerous benefits for physical, mental, and emotional health. Music itself can be a very powerful tool. It can affect our moods and our state of well-being by triggering memories and other emotional experiences. When dance or any movement is set to music, it can create a stress relieving, joyful and sometimes healing moment for those involved, as well as increasing/releasing endorphins in the brain.

Please join us for the dance movement therapy workshop in Cupertino, where we will explore different attributes of the emotional and physical well-being through set of the creative and fun exercises, mixed with the episodes, filled with free-form dancing.

Main benefits you may expect:

- Getting a good ability to express suppressed emotions
- Establishing a positive and rejuvenating connection with your body
- Improving general physical fitness and gross motor skills development
- Processing internal negative beliefs, improving confidence and self-esteem
- Encourages creativity and imagination
- Connecting others people on emotional level
- Creating a positive life outlook, addressing stressful life events and depressive episodes

Every workshop is different, and the facilitator will follow the flow, adjusting the list of the exercises and free-form dance activities to the created team spirit and atmosphere.

Important notes:

- No partner or previous dancing experience necessary.
- All ages and physical capabilities are welcome. You choose you own level of participation and involvement.
- Please try to be on time, as it is easier to “catch a waive” if you are present from the class beginning.
- Clothing: anything that would let you move freely.
- Shoes: dancing bare-feet is the best, but you can also use soft flat shoes. Please no outdoor shoes on the floor.
- There is plenty of parking near the studio. Follow the GPS guidance, however as soon as you turn to the parking lot from Bandley Drive, you need to drive around the building to find the Li's Wushu Academy Entrance at the back. There are no entrances from the front or sides of the building.

Workshop Facilitator: Michael Pekker

Cost: Recommended donation $15 (cash, at the door).

Healthy Gut & Happy Brain FREE Workshop

Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

The First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto
Chapel Room
1140 Cowper St.
Palo Alto, CA

Learn a simple, powerful holistic self-healing technique that helps you develop a clean & healthy gut and 5 steps of Brain Education (BEST 5) to become the true owner of your brain and your life.

You should attend if you:
* Want to learn how to utilize your brain fully
* Are looking to expand your understanding of how your body functions and the ways in which your mind and gut communicate
* Want to improve your health safely and naturally
* Have a desire to better manage hormones, emotions and anxiety

“I’ve got a gut feeling about this.”
“The thought of it makes my stomach churn.”
“My gut says to go with this one.”

Have you ever found yourself saying these intuitive phrases to yourself? If yes, you have good reason. Modern science is finding stronger corroborations that link pathways between the gut and brain in processing thoughts and emotions. In fact, the connection between the gut and brain is so direct and intimate that scientists are now referring to the gut as the body’s second brain below the waist.
Did you know that the brain only makes 5% of the happiness hormone, serotonin, in your body?

Surprisingly, it is your gut that produces a whopping 95% of your entire body’s supply of serotonin! Also, 50% of the body’s dopamine—the hormone critical to motivation and focus—is made by your second brain in the gut. This means that keeping your gut healthy is the secret and key to keeping your emotions, and consequently your overall well-being, healthy as well. The best part is that Belly Button Healing is a simple method that lets you activate serotonin and dopamine in a short time wherever you are to create your own health, happiness, and peace.
