Subud Center
3800 Old San Jose Road,
Soquel, CA 95073

Holotropic breathwork is one of the most powerful and deepest spiritual tools available for humanity today. Discovered by Stan and Christina Grof, the pioneers of transpersonal psychology, this approach offers an opportunity for

- Breaking through life crisis,

Liberated Love and Eros Workshop

October 2 -3, 2015 (Friday – Saturday)

Santa Cruz, CA

This is an experiential workshop, using various exercises and tools including addressing our personal issues and needs related to life, love, eros and community.

We will train deep listening and sharing in the powerfully healing setting of ZEGG-Forum.

Because “It takes a village to raise a consciousness” and it takes TOOLS to build a village...
we bring you the ZEGG Forum—a tool that inspires faith and stimulates trust between humans. Experience for yourself the magic of a group of individuals merging into a short-term community. Experience trust building with people who shares their inner values and dares to be seen.

The Forum is based on trust and Faith, which means: “I want to know who you really are?” and it means the decision to follow my own inner love and to stop running away.

Also “It takes a village to raise a HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP!” So many traditional, open and polyamorous relationships fail or suffer because they do not have trusting transparent tribes to support them. The ZEGG Forum and the wisdom about love, eros and relationship of the ZEGG Community provide the potting soil that that allow our precious relationships to grow and flourish.

Murder in the Ballroom: 1938

Saturday, October 3, 2015 @ 7pm to 10pm

Alameda Elks Lodge
2255 Santa Clara Ave,
Alameda, CA

A swinging 1930's dance party at the English Country House of retired detectives Tommy and Tuppence Beresford is suddenly interrupted by a murder in the ballroom.

Mystery spices up the program of waltzes, jive ("Lindy Hop" and "East Coast Swing" to you Americans), fox trots, tangos, Latin, and Blues. Sara and Swingtime will play the latest American tunes for your dancing pleasure and, yes, they play waltzes as beautifully as they play Swing! There's something for everyone. At 7pm, there will be a pre-ball workshop in "Fred & Ginger-style" slow foxtrot and in East Coast Swing.

1930's costume or vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required. White tie or black tie optional. The Beresfords and their friends are an easy-going set and hope you will interact with them and their more famous detective friends.

Surely, their combined intelligence will help us discover "who done it" before the end of the evening. And, meanwhile, we'll certainly not let an inconvenience like a murder interfere with our dancing.

There will be a full bar outside the ballroom and a light snack buffet in the parlor.

Cost: $20.00 in advance (by September 26); At the door: $25.00

Medieval Festival of Courage

October 3-4, 2015 (Saturday – Sunday)
Blue Lake, CA

The Festival of Courage has become a special community to have fun in medieval style. From the bounty of nature we gather the fruits of the harvest and store up the light to guide us through the darkness of winter. This celebration of the autumnal equinox Michaelmas, also called the Festival of Courage, is to draw courage and strength within ourselves to face the cold and dark times to come.  The story of this festival teaches us that we have the courage to face the dragon, the courage to stand alone amongst the stars, courage to reach farther than our grasp, the courage to share with others, courage to make it through the darkness. We find the courage though myths and stories that we can create the magic to help us have the courage to face the winter.

Come and enjoy jousting knights, dancing dragons, medieval morsels and spirits, a harvest market, games and fine entertainment. We celebrate the art of agricultural traditions with vintners and farmers. Local and far away land artisans don our village with beautiful wares that lure you to take home their treasures.  Fine food and drink are available from local vendors to tempt your palate.

Bay Area Qigong Training

October 3-4, 2015 (Saturday-Sunday)

Muse Gallery
614 Alabama Street,
San Francisco, CA

Qigong training will help you achieving sustainable health and clarity. This is done through three vehicles. The first is through mechanical education. The aim is to improve the physical movement of the body, by removing the unwanted resistances and bringing the body into a holistic synergy. The second is through learning how to connect and cultivate the energy body. One learns how to connect to ones Qi and how this relates the Universal Qi. The third is perceptual. This is developed along with the first two vehicles. Here ones own experiences of practice are distilled into a personal philosophy rather than adopting the ideas of another.

Cost: $150/one week in advance, later $195.

Fluid Body/Fluid Life Workshop

Sunday, October 4, 2015 @ 1pm to 4pm

Subud Santa Cruz
3800 Old San Jose Road,
Soquel, CA 95073

All life is movement. Everything living has, at its most elemental level, an elaborate constellation of waves, pulsations, undercurrents, whirlings and shimmerings. Through this world of movement, we are connected to life itself and every aspect of our biosphere, from the furthest stars in the universe, to the molecular spinnings under the skin. Awareness of ourselves as movement begins by developing our sensitivity to our intrinsic world.

Through breath, sound, and movement, we begin to enlarge our capacity to live from the inside out: To move, speak, think, love, play and work as liquid organisms in a friendly world. Stepping outside of the cultural models of “body” and “shape “we will discover the deep inner world of fluid that exists outside of disease, trauma or fixed ideas.

No previous experience necessary

Preregistration required 2 weeks before each event

Women's Weekend Retreat: Fear and Fearlessness

October 9 -11, 2015 (Friday – Sunday)

San Francisco Buddhist Center
Triratna Buddhist Community
37 Bartlett Street
San Francisco CA 94110

Women’s weekend retreat is a wonderful opportunity to spend a weekend practicing together in the relaxing natural beauty of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Our theme this year is Fear and Fearlessness

~ Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love. (Rilke) ~

Through meditation, mindful communication and body awareness we will gently explore ways to bring kind awareness to the parts of us that are afraid and anxious. As we learn to listen fearlessly, without an agenda, we can begin to appreciate the full subtlety and richness of our experience so that our dragons lose their apparent solidity and become less frightening. Gradually we can expand our capacity to turn towards all our fears with kind curiosity, and even love, rather than judging them or reacting from them.

Cost: $230–185 (sliding scale)

Positive Thinking Workshop

Saturday, October 10, 2015 @ 1pm – 6pm

Anubhuti Meditation and Retreat Center
820 Bel Marin Keys Blvd, Novato, CA 94949

Thoughts and emotions play a very crucial role in affecting how we perform at home, at work, and in all aspects of our daily lives.

The energy of the human mind is thought. Thought is said to be one of the greatest, but least understood, energy resources of the universe. When we learn to understand and harness the energy of the mind, we are able to master our lives and produce those thoughts that give the most happiness and fulfillment. The mind has the power to create whatever it focuses on. Even if you think you are already fairly positive in life, you can benefit tremendously by looking at how much we do to ourselves unconsciously. Life will never be without its challenges. Knowing how to create a positive attitude can change a problem into an opportunity, making life seem less perilous and more enjoyable.

Through discussion, meditation and reflection, creative activity and exercises, this day retreat will take you on a journey to explore the power and influence of thought and the impact of positive attitudes. It will also look at the underlying spiritual principles that help maintain positivity in your daily life.

Pleasant Valley Sanctuary, North San Juan, California (Northern California)

Yoga masters describe God as ever-existing bliss consciousness. Silence is the altar upon which we develop our communion with that Bliss. Silence helps us to see ourselves more clearly, to see the course of our thoughts and the currents of our hearts. Together with the techniques of Raja yoga, we have a powerful opportunity to use the energy of our bodies, our breath, our will and our concentration to work our way back to our True Nature.

Silent retreat attendees will receive basic instruction in meditation to explore throughout the retreat, as well as access to structured group meditations, which are encouraged but not mandatory. Yoga postures are led each morning.

Cost: Private Cabin (single guest): $110; Private Cabin (couple): $160; Tent: $50
