Balance in the New Year

January 02, 2016 @ 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Yoga Garden SF
286 Divisadero St.
San Francisco, CA 94117

Are you seeking to start the New Year with more focus on what helps create balance in our relationships with ourselves & others? Do you want to learn what influences our behavior, energy levels, choices and lifestyles, bringing us back into balance?

Start your New Year with the tools to:
- Nourish yourself based on what you need to maintain balance
- Better manage your energy levels
- Know and appreciate yourself
Yoga & Ayurveda give us tools to become more aware of what different elements can trigger our thoughts, moods and feelings on a moment to moment basis.

Whatever we connect to, and interact with, will influence how we feel, think and behave. For example, a cup of coffee impacts us differently than a cocktail and the mood of bluegrass is quite different than heavy metal!

The same is also true for all of our practices. Different sounds, breathing techniques, visualizations and meditation techniques all have different qualities and hence different effects and applications.

All levels are welcome. No previous experience is necessary. We’ve specifically designed this series of classes in a way that will allow the beginners to find the material as accessible and easy to understand as the experienced practitioners will find it rich and informative. So come join us!

Cost: $45, or $35 before December 15th.

Sensuali-TEA – Featured Workshop

Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The citadel
181 Eddy St San Francisco, CA

Start 2016 off with an erotic charge and join us for Sensuali-TEA.  This is so much more than just your average tea party.  Sensuali-TEA combines two of my favorite things TEA and Sex.

In the Mystic tea lounge you will find aphrodisiac herbal tea infusions being poured by beautiful scantly clad gods and goddesses, tarot card readers giving insight to your erotic past, present, and future, and masseurs with oiled up hands ready to rub you down.

Tranquil music will fill the play space creating an environment ripe and ready for sensual play.  Perhaps you want to put on a blind fold and let others lightly touch your body, pleasure yourself like no one is watching (even though many probably will be), or maybe you found a connection in the tea lounge and are interested in getting to know them a little more intimately.  The sky is the limit to possible pleasures you might find in the play space.

This event is open to all genders, orientations, and body shapes/sizes.  We have a zero tolerance policy for anyone being disrespectful of the boundaries of others.  No thank you means NO THANK YOU and a yes only pertains to the specific question asked and does not mean a person cannot change their mind.

Cost: $27 - $54 (depending on the time of purchase)

Bare Bones - An Open Floor Movement Workshop

January 8 – 10, 2016 (Friday – Sunday)

Community Church of Mill Valley
8 Olive St,
Mill Valley, California 94941

Bare Bones is a dance meditation for building muscular intelligence, the ability to be awake and fluid, and articulate the innate symphony of wisdom and expression waiting just below our skin.

We ask our bodies and let them speak:

What part of me has forgotten how to move?
Where am I fluid and where am I bound?
What gestures purr, hum, hurt, hesitate?
Who do I gravitate towards?
What propels me to shy away and...
What makes my body sing?

Our inquiry becomes one of ratio: How much of our huge life force is devoted to keeping ourselves moving in repetitive, habitual patterns? How much is left for creativity, loving connections, the willing surrender to change?

It’s a dance to get up and make a cup of coffee if we pay attention. To paraphrase Louis C.K. “We’re a masterpiece of movement and nobody’s noticing.” In every moment we are literally being pushed and pulled, drawn down and lifted up, being thrown off balance and finding it again. The goal is a body that moves with it all and tells the tale. This is the infinite choreography for Bare Bones.

Cost: $210 before December 18; $245 thereafter

Making Rain: Grief as Sacred Practice

Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 10:00am - 5:00pm

Terra's Temple
3051 Adeline St,
Berkeley, California 94703

Heart pain, longing, and loss are inevitable here on Earth, yet modern American folk often feel intimidated and ill-equipped to navigate the full, transformative potency of grief. We’ll discuss ways diverse cultures weave ritual, grieving, and heart-centered community and talk about how getting good at grieving is one beautiful ritual strategy for mending cracks in the larger vessel of our humanity. After establishing groundwork for the importance of grieving well, we'll call on relevant elemental powers and ancestral guides to hold a kind and protective space for grieving.

This sacred tending takes place in supportive community with ritual precautions to honor the potency and energetic reality of emotional pain. Participants are held in ways that allow for contacting the heart of their experience, expressing from this, and moving into ritual cleansing and return. Losses and heartache of all sorts can serve as obvious catalysts for grieving, and this type of ritual is also one response to drought, one way to welcome back rain to California. No need to feel any particular way to attend and no one will be pressured to cry or anything awkward like that; it's actually a really nourishing way to spend a day in community.

Cost: Suggested contribution is $120, flexibility as needed.

Portal of the Feminine: Understanding the Erotic Equation and Female Arousal to Change Your Life

Friday, January 15, 2016 at 7:00 PM - Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 6:00 PM

The Center for Sex and Culture
1349 Mission St,
San Francisco, CA 94103

Please join Pamela Madsen and Mac S. McGregor, two internationally known sex educators who have done pioneering work in women's Sexuality, Fertility, Gender and Asian Healing Arts for a non-residential two day retreat created just for women. Perhaps you have never heard the term "Erotic Intelligence", "The Erotic Equation", "Erotic Guides" or even "Uses of the Erotic"?

Most women live outside ourselves, and rely on external forces, input and directives to guide our lives rather than from our internal knowledge and needs. When we tune out our own internal erotic guides we limit our capacity for creativity, sexual expression, pleasure, and our own ability to be powerful in our careers. This workshop will introduce you to your own internal guide perhaps for the first time, or take you deeper of the power of the erotic within ourselves.

The retreat will begin the moment you register with homework assignments and the opportunity to participate in a special Facebook Group created just for our participants attending this experience.

We will join together Friday evening before our Saturday retreat to know each other, share some light food and wine, create the intentions for our retreat and begin to explore this concept of the erotic as an internal guide for women.

On Saturday we will begin the process of exploring, reclaiming or getting to know our personal erotic internal guides.

Our process will include:

1. Guided meditation into listening to our own internal erotic guide.
2. Explore The Lotus Lift Meditation to tap into Arousal Energy to fuel your creativity
3. Explore our full female expression and how we hold those emotions in our bodies.
4. Understand "The Erotic Equation" and learn to utilize this in daily life.
5. Identify Your Erotic Creature.
6. Examine why we keep ourselves small erotically and practice opening ourselves up to our greatness
7.. Delve deeper in our sexual desire and learn to honor, access and express it.
8. Understanding menstruation, Peri-menopause and menopause: How do these stages of female biology affect our sexuality, creativity and desire. How does the voices of our
internal guide shift with each life change.
9. Confront our hunger in every form from sexuality, to food, to money.
10.Tell the stories of our bodies.
11. Learn to access and work with our Arousal and Orgasm as a holistic tool for healing and transformation in our lives.
12. Explore Tai-Chi as a means for connecting to the erotic with Martial Arts Master, Shihan Mac S. McGregor
13. Explore relationship issues with Pamela and Mac S. McGregor.

16-th Annual Edwardian Ball

January 22 - 23, 2016 (Friday – Saturday)

Regency Ballroom,
1300 Van Ness Street,
San Francisco, CA 94109

The 16th Edwardian Ball returns to the Regency Ballroom Friday and Saturday, January 22 and 23, 2016. The inimitable, description-defying, high camp, whimsical and Edward Goreysurrealistic two-day festival, called the #1 Steampunk Event in the World on Buzzfeed, is a living interpretation and celebration of the stories of the late macabre cult author, comic artist, illustrator and cartoonist Edward Gorey.

Friday, January 22, 2016: “The Edwardian World’s Faire”
Our two-night celebration unfolds with the renowned Edwardian World’s Faire. Historic and novel characters intermingle; true-life adventures blend with fantastical lands; live the excitement of the age of exploration, reimagined through the lens of today and beyond. Get lost in our delightful Gaming Garden, where characters, tricks, and games of chance weave a backdrop to steam-powered creations and chance encounters. Revel in a modern day Belle Époque where cultures meet, blend, dance, and collide. A worldly adventure ahead of Saturday night’s Ball, our World’s Faire presents a once-in-this-lifetime adventure!

Saturday, January 23, 2016:
Following our global adventure, we return to our Ballroom for the most decadent night of our season! This is the night that started it all, The Edwardian Ball, presented by co-hosts Rosin Coven and The Vau de Vire Society. Ballroom dancing leads way to stunning performances both on and offstage in a collage of fashion, theatre, music, circus performance, and dance. Each year, The Edwardian Ball presents a featured Edward Gorey tale in an original stage performance. This year’s event takes a unique turn, with Edwardian founders Rosin Coven teaming up with longtime collaborators Dark Garden Corsetry in an operatic presentation of Gorey’s ridiculous tale, “The Stupid Joke.” Expect anything but stupidity as these masters of their craft collaborate in an unforgettable tale of a poorly planned joke gone incredibly wrong…

And in the spirit of celebrating all things Edward Gorey, Ball co-hosts Vau de Vire Society present a series of vignettes throughout the evening paying homage to the most controversial works of the (in)famous illustrator… guaranteed to pop corsets and ruffle coattails!

Cost: $60.00 per night

LIBERATING SEXY - Asking For What You Want

Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Aquarian Heart Center
4920 Telegraph Ave.
Oakland, CA 94609

Wouldn't it be nice to be touched just the way you like it?
How would it feel to have the confidence that you're touching your partner just the way they want it?

In order to know how to touch your partner exactly the way they want it, they need to teach you, and be able to deliver the feedback in a gentle, seductive way that can be well received.

But talking about sex with your partner can be challenging. It may bring up fear of hurting them, feeling criticized or inadequate.

Yet, we all want to be an extraordinary lover and know how to unlock our partner's hidden doors to their most sultry, sensual selves.

In "Liberating Sexy" we will help you discover with your partner how you like to be touched and how to tell them in a way that is seductive and well received, rather than critical. Once we know how to please our partner, we then feel more competent and empowered to be sexually creative with them.

What you will gain from this workshop:
* Learn to tap into and cultivate your own desire
* Practice giving feedback in a way that excites your partner
* Gain confidence and expand your skills in how to please your partner
* Effective ways of intimately communicating needs and desires
* Learn how to tease and slowly build up arousal
* How to overcome constrains around sexuality, passion and desire
* Better understanding of each other's sexual needs and turn-ons
* Build trust with each other, knowing that your partner can tell you what their needs or boundaries are
Feel more confident in exploring the edges of your sexual connection

Cost: $70 per couple by January 10. $100 per couple afterwards

Loveinar – Oakland Workshop

Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Oakland, CA

Have you ever wondered why does everyone attract LOVE but you? If you are like many others you silently ask yourself if I'm so successful why am I still single.  The answer is simple; you have been TRAINED how to succeed professionally, which is why you are probably crushing it in your career, but feel as if you are being crushed in your relationships.  Whether married or single there are male/female dynamics that are at play in relationships that when understood can help you to attract or greatly enhance your relationship - but we have not been trained how to do so...until now.

What I'm getting at is way deeper than dating techniques or gender roles.  Once you are armed with these insights you will be able to transform the quality of your relationships with the opposite sex.  No matter what your past story has been the LOVEinar will help you move beyond dead-end dating and fighting the same fight to being empowered to create the relationships you deserve and desire.

The LOVEinar is a highly interactive session with role playing where you will...
*Uncover what is blocking you from experiencing the LOVE & relationships you desire.  (It's not what you think)
*Learn how to stop sabotaging yourself and develop empowering relationship beliefs.
*Discover what you really want in your relationships and leave with a clear and compelling plan to achieve it.

Have fun as you get real relationship "practice" without the risk of being hurt or breaking someone's heart.

Cost: $350

Spiritual Activation Workshop

Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (PST)

440 Haight Street
San Francisco, CA 94117

What if you could take a journey of self-discovery that would result in a deeper connection with your soul, immediately felt higher energy levels, clarity of mind, deeper intuition, less physical pain and overthinking, and receive a spiritual and energetic upgrade?

What if you could release your most worrisome issues and situations and connect to an innate state of flow in your life, relationships or entrepreneurial and business ideas?

Within every person is a deep desire to experience one’s own true nature, one’s true source inner power. This power is experienced in life through your own spiritual practice, meditation, yoga, nature or personal development retreats. It can also be awakened through spiritual activation.

This transfer of energy from the teacher brings about the awakening of the individual's own inherent spiritual power, as a process that activates an inner unfolding of awareness that leads to progressively higher states of consciousness.

Yazan is a spiritual teacher and shaman who studied under many masters and received powerful initiations, teachings and activations from enlightened masters from many traditions including Shaolin and Taoist masters, South American tribal shamans, and the third man in Buddhism after the Dalai Lama, his holiness the 12th Kenting Tai Situpa.

Through his energetic work and connecting with these teachers and their traditions, he makes this inner awakening available in his workshops. For those already embarked on the path, it is also the ideal environment to deepen and accelerate your spiritual work intuition to your own life circumstances, to accelerate healing and raise your vibration. People have described Yazan's events as "profound" and "life-changing".

Fee: $250

Being a Friend to Yourself and Others

January 23—24, 2016 (Saturday – Sunday)

Shambhala Meditation Center of San Francisco
1231 Stevenson Street
San Francisco, CA 94103

Kindness and compassion are important aspects of being awake and present in our life. But for many of us, self-doubt undermines our confidence and we forget that kindness begins with ourself. It’s good to be reminded that just as self-aggression has a ripple effect outward, so does practicing kindness and appreciation toward oneself.

We often need reminders that genuine kindness to ourself gives us the courage and strength to be present with everything that arises in our daily life, so we can engage in our commitments with enthusiasm.

Cost: $150
